AppGyver: the backend behind a no-code app platform
Backend services for AppGyver's no-code app platform, which became SAP Build Apps.

The client
AppGyver, a no-code pioneer from Helsinki, built a platform where people create web and mobile apps visually, without writing code. SAP acquired the company, and the platform became SAP Build Apps.
The challenge
An app built without code still needs a backend: users who sign in, permissions, data and APIs. Every customer app needs its own, and the customer shouldn’t have to write any server code for it.
What we did
We joined AppGyver’s team and worked on the backend services of the platform, and on the parts of its interface where customers set up data and APIs:
- Sign-in and permissions for every app Users and groups, access for each API route, sessions and API keys for connecting other systems.
- A database for every app Each app gets its own database, and changes to its data model take effect without a restart.
- APIs that document themselves Endpoints can be added, changed and removed while the service runs, and the API description is generated from them.
- A cloud setup that sleeps when idle The services run in containers on AWS and shut down after a period without requests. We also load-tested them.
The result
The backend services we worked on went into the platform AppGyver’s customers built their apps on.
