The idea

ProjektuBanka is a crowdfunding platform helping Latvian entrepreneurs raise capital through the collective effort of friends, family, customers, and individual investors. International platforms didn’t serve the market well: language, payment methods, and legal requirements were barriers. We built ProjektuBanka using Neighborly.com, an open-source crowdfunding product on Ruby on Rails.

What we built

The main features of Neighborly.com were largely out-of-the-box, so we focused on integrating locally relevant payment gateways.

  • FirstData integration Credit card payment processing for backers and project creators
  • PayPal integration International payment option for a broader user base
  • Swedbank payments Latvian bank integration for local transfers
  • SEB bank payments Latvian bank integration for local transfers
  • Paysera integration Baltic payment gateway supporting regional transactions
  • Platform customization Configuration and adjustments to meet ProjektuBanka's specific needs

The result

A crowdfunding platform enabling Latvian entrepreneurs to raise capital effectively. The integration of five payment gateways made it accessible to a broad user base, from local bank transfers to international payments. The platform supported a wide range of transactions, making it easy for entrepreneurs to receive funding from various sources.
