Doctus: Medical articles portal
A Ruby on Rails portal for medical professionals: searchable article database complementing a printed medical magazine.

The idea
Doctus is a medical journal offering valuable reading material in both electronic and printed formats. They needed an online portal that provides access to magazine articles while encouraging readers to purchase the print edition: two channels complementing each other. The portal needed to restrict access to medical professionals only.
What we built
We developed the portal from scratch using Ruby on Rails.
- UI/UX design Clean, intuitive interface with easy navigation and controlled access for medical professionals, including wireframing, prototyping, and user testing
- Backend with Ruby on Rails Designed to handle high traffic and support article categorization and search
- Custom CMS Editors publish and manage content easily, with scheduling, multimedia integration, and SEO optimization tools
The result
Doctus.lv extended the magazine’s reach beyond print, giving medical professionals online access to their content library. The custom CMS simplified content management. The online portal drove interest in printed magazines, contributing to increased sales. The platform received positive feedback for its design and usability.
“IT House always suggests what would be effective, not just what we ask for. Getting the right outcome and achieving value for money. We've worked together on long-term projects and I appreciate that kind of consistency.”
