Doctus: Medical articles portal
Medical professionals gained online access to journal articles while the print edition remained part of the experience.
The idea
Doctus is a medical journal offering valuable reading material in both electronic and printed formats. A journal like this needs an online portal that provides access to magazine articles while encouraging readers to purchase the print edition, with the two channels complementing each other. The portal has to restrict access to medical professionals only.
What we built
We developed the portal from scratch using Ruby on Rails.
- UI/UX design Clean, intuitive interface with easy navigation and controlled access for medical professionals, including wireframing, prototyping, and user testing
- Backend with Ruby on Rails Designed to handle high traffic and support article categorization and search
- Custom CMS Easy content publishing and management for editors, with tools for scheduling, multimedia integration, and SEO optimization
The result
Doctus.lv extended the magazine’s reach beyond print, giving medical professionals online access to their content library. The custom CMS simplified content management. The online portal drove interest in printed magazines, contributing to increased sales. The platform received positive feedback for its design and usability.
