The idea
Thousands of marketplaces relied on a platform that needed additional senior development capacity. They needed additional senior development capacity for their core product. That product is the platform itself, which thousands of marketplaces rely on. Our team brought expertise in React, cloud-based APIs, Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript.
What we built
We have worked directly with Sharetribe’s development team for several years on their core system. Key contributions:
- Availability calendar Maintained the availability feature and worked on the Harmony migration, critical for rental and service marketplaces
- Stripe integration Integrated Stripe into the core platform alongside PayPal, providing secure payment options for a global user base
- Email layouts Created new server-side email layouts compatible with email providers while maintaining consistent appearance
- Rails 5 upgrade Writing and passing tests, moving to latest patch version, and fixing deprecated features. The platform stays up-to-date and reliable.
- Code refactoring Replaced EntityBuilders with ActiveModel classes, improving maintainability and performance of the internal structure
- Intercom integration Assisted with Intercom setup and event tracking, improving customer communication and support for marketplace administrators
The result
The availability calendar and Stripe integration improved user experience and payment flexibility across all Sharetribe marketplaces. The email redesigns improved consistent communication. Rails 5 upgrade and code refactoring enhanced stability and performance. Intercom integration improved customer support for marketplace administrators.
