Betty Blocks: Enterprise speed for a no-code platform
Betty Blocks needed enterprise-level performance. We migrated their full codebase from Ruby on Rails to Elixir on a live production system.

The idea
Betty Blocks is a Dutch SaaS provider based in Alkmaar, offering a no-code and low-code application development platform that lets both non-technical and technical users create mobile and web applications. Ruby on Rails had served them well, but at enterprise scale, Elixir’s concurrency model offers a fundamentally different class of performance. Betty Blocks chose to make the move, and needed a team that could handle a complex migration on a live production system.
What we built
We worked directly with Betty Blocks’ team, including CEO Chris Obdam, to execute the migration from Ruby on Rails to Elixir on a live production system.
- Codebase migration Migrated the Ruby on Rails codebase to Elixir, focusing on performance and scalability
- Performance optimization Used Elixir's concurrency and fault-tolerance features to handle increased loads efficiently
- Continuous collaboration Daily communication with the Betty Blocks team: requirements and deadlines met without surprises
The result
The migration handled more concurrent users and processed tasks more efficiently. The improved performance positioned Betty Blocks to keep growing in the no-code/low-code market. Betty Blocks has continued to thrive, and our collaboration has lasted several years. See Betty Blocks at bettyblocks.com
“They went above and beyond to meet tight deadlines on a complex migration. The quality of work exceeded our expectations, and they integrated with our team as if they were in-house.”
