Mobicast: Video streaming platform with mobile apps
Video management, publishing, syndication, and monetization for content owners and brands across web and mobile apps.

The idea
Mobicast, a video streaming portal for consumers, content owners, distributors, and brands, targeted markets in Asia and South America. The project integrated video content management, recommendations, app and web publishing, syndication, and ad monetization. Due to its scale and complexity, the project came under an NDA, but it offered capabilities comparable to a YouTube or Vimeo-style video gateway.
What we built
A year-long development effort building a custom web application and companion mobile apps:
- Base platform Foundational architecture using Ruby on Rails, ensuring scalability and performance
- Video player enhancements Social sharing buttons, sizing options, and responsiveness for devices
- Storyboards and playlists Effective organization and management of video content with storyboards and curated playlists
- iOS and Android apps Companion mobile apps mirroring the web platform's features, including scrolling experience, social sharing, and full-screen video mode
- API synchronization Maintaining consistency across web and mobile environments through synchronized APIs
The result
A complete video streaming platform handling the full lifecycle from upload to monetization, with cross-platform delivery. The enhanced video player, storyboards, and playlists improved user engagement and content organization. API synchronization ensured a unified experience across all devices.
