The idea
Second Skin is a niche marketplace based in the UK and Ireland, dedicated to safely connecting buyers and sellers from a specific community worldwide. The platform provides a secure space for transactions. Our work covered migrating existing user data, implementing a custom design, and integrating advanced features.
What we built
We worked closely with Second Skin on a platform build including data migration and extensive customization:
- User and data migration Transferred all users and listings from Sharetribe Go to the new Sharetribe infrastructure without data loss
- Fully custom design Created a unique design reflecting the community's identity
- Multicurrency listings Listing items in various currencies, with exchange rates calculated via API for accurate pricing
- Shipping tracking Saving and tracking shipping numbers via external tools
- International price negotiation Negotiation between buyers and sellers across different currencies and regions
- SMS notifications Timely transaction updates by SMS through Twilio
- Drag-and-drop multiple picture upload Simple process for uploading multiple images per listing
- Custom dashboard Efficient management of listings and transactions
The result
A highly functional marketplace catering to a specific global community. Successful data migration ensured continuity. Multicurrency listings and price negotiation broadened international reach. Shipping tracking and SMS notifications improved user confidence. Drag-and-drop uploads simplified listing creation.
